REED CITY — An Evart woman is facing felony charges for using another woman's naked photos to create a fake personal ad on Craigslist. Tina Marie Young, 35, was arraigned Tuesday in Osceola County's 77th District Court on one count of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of unlawful posting of a message. Young was arrested after an investigation by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, confirmed Undersheriff Justin Halladay. "In essence, the suspect created a false Craigslist ad where she used the victim's name and said it was an ad for a 'romantic relationship-type thing,'" Halladay said. "The suspect used some photos of the victim — photos which would cause her to be embarrassed." The victim learned about the posting after receiving multiple messages from people responding to the ad, Halladay said. "Upon learning about the ad, she tried to get it taken down, but Craigslist couldn't do that without law enforcement being involved because she did not have access to the account," he said. "The victim contacted us and we investigated and assisted with getting the posting removed." The department's computer investigative officer was able to trace where the posting came from and generate a suspect, Halladay said. "It appears the suspect was attempting to be malicious to another individual and in this case it didn't work out too well," he said. The unlawful posting charge states "the message was intended to cause conduct that would make the victim feel threatened, or harassed or molested." Using computers to commit a crime is a felony with a maximum penalty of four years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Young's bond was set at $30,000. Her preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, in Osceola County's 77th District Court.
