EVART \u2014 Evart's boys track and field fifth at the Central Montcalm Hornet Invitational on Saturday. The girls were ninth. Evart took the top three spots in the 3,200-meter run with Nathan Woods (10:25.01), Austin Hamilton (10:29.9) and Josh Woods (10:37.75). In the 1,600 meters, Andrew Booher was fifth (5:01.66) while Alex Hamilton was sixth (5:03.42). The 3,200 relay team of Nathan and Josh Woods and Austin and Alex Hamilton was first (8:37.90). Scott Martin won the high jump (6-0). Cody Pritchard was second in the long jump (18-1). Evart\u2019s 800-meter relay team placed first with a time of 1:38.90 and Martin placed second in the shot put (36-6) and first in high jump (5-8). Caleb Parrish finished second in the discus throw (99-3). "I thought our kids did really well," Evart coach Dennis Peacock said. "We were again without a whole lot of people. I was please. Cody Pritchard had a good night. Our 4 by 8 had a season's best." For the girls, Sarah Nelson was fifth in the 3,200 meters (13:56.0). Macey Wallace was second in the long jump (14-2). The Evart boys track team defeated Marion 126-36 and dropped a close one to Manton 84-79 on May 3 in track and field action. Danny Griffin took first in the 100-meter dash (11.33). Pritchard placed second in the 100 (11.74), first in the 200-meter dash (24.39) and first in the long jump (17-5). Josh Woods had a big day for the Wildcats, placing first in the 3200-meter run (11:10), second in the 800-meter run (2:09), and second in the mile (4:48.50). Nathan Woods placed second in the 3200 (11:11.8) and third (4:54.20) in the 1600-meter run. As of May 1, the Wildcats are ranked second in the state in Division 4 according to MITCA. The Wildcat girls fell to both Marion (105-52) and Manton (129-34) Tuesday in a tri-meet. Wallace took first place in high jump with a leap of 17-5 and finished second in the 100-meter dash (13.68) and 200-meter dash (29.80). Madison Parrish placed second in the pole vault (7-6).
