EVART — Lilas VanScoyoc was overjoyed when she heard the Evart Public Library would receive a $3,500 grant from the General Mills Yoplait foundation.

VanScoyoc, the library’s director, said the library applied for a grant this summer in hopes of receiving $750.

"They were very generous. Part of it will go towards summer reading program next summer and that always involves 100 to 125 kids. We will use some of it for children’s books to encourage reading," VanScoyoc said. "It's going to benefit a lot of kids.”

She also plans to look into purchasing audio books for the students.

Along with donating to the Evart Public Library, the General Mills Yoplait foundation also donated a total of $130,000 to other schools and organizations in the area.
