EVART — There are choices to be made when voters in Evart head for the polls in the upcoming municipal election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 8

There are selections to be made, and members of the Evart branch of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs hope to help folks better make up their minds by offering a chance to meet the candidates.

The GFWC Evart Woman’s Club is going to be hosting a “Meet the Candidates” night on Tuesday, October, 25, 7 p.m. in the Community Room at The Depot.

The only topic of discussion will be Evart’s municipal election.

In the upcoming election in Evart, the ballot is set for the municipal voting to be held at The Depot.

Some of the races are not contested. In others, there will be new faces seated at the city’s Council table.

Incumbent Mayor Eric Schmidt is running uncontested for reelection. This will be his third term of office.

In a contested race for the job of City Clerk, incumbent Ann Pattee has filed for a re-election bid and Cynthia Eastman has filed her petition in hopes of being seated at the clerk’s desk.

Filing to fill a two-year partial term at the council table is lone candidate Ralph Carlson.

Hoping for one of the two Council seats open for four-year postings are four candidates - Virginia Staats, Dan Elliott, Casey Keysor, and Greg Sherman

The top two vote getters will both serve for four-year terms of office.

Council member Charles Walter is not up for election in this voting period.

GFWC members hope area residents will show an interest in the democratic process and take part in this opportunity to meet the folks who may be making decisions for years to come in the City of Evart.
