EVART — Evart’s basketball team dearly missed Carter Pritchard from its lineup last season.

But Pritchard, who missed a winter sport last year because of an ACL injury, is back on the basketball team and the Wildcats couldn’t be happier.

“Practices are going pretty good,” Pritchard said during the preseason. “We’re a pretty young team.”

Pritchard played football and said he was “pretty close” to 100 percent health.

“I hadn’t played in awhile but I’m starting to get used to it,” he said. “I’ll play off guard and hopefully I can be a leader of the team. I should be a pretty good shooter and I can pass the ball pretty well. Hopefully, I can improve from my defense of two years ago.”

Evart lost to Reed City in Tuesday’s season opener 68-35.

“We’ll try to push the ball a little bit,” Pritchard said. “We’re a little younger. We’ll have a freshman and a sophomore. We have juniors who came back as sophomores.”
