Weekend offers Christmas Carnival

EVART — Christmas is fast approaching in the city of Evart, and the annual Christmas Carnival will help residents and visitors alike find joy in the season of giving and entertainment from a number of free, family-friendly activities.

Holiday fun will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, throughout the downtown area, at the depot and at Crossroads Community Church. Santa and Mrs. Claus are expected to arrive by fire truck at about 1:15 p.m. at the depot, ready to take pictures with children and go through wish lists.

Other events include free hot dogs, popcorn and hot chocolate, marshmallow roasting, a Christmas carol tram ride through the city, a Euro Bungee, face painting, crafts, pony rides, free family portraits and a variety show featuring comedy acts, a jazz band and a performance from Steppin Up Dance Studio members.

Evart Downtown Development Authority Director Al Weinberg said he enjoys seeing family members attend the carnival together and enjoy each other’s company while checking out each activity.

Businesses and restaurants also will be open during the event.

Weinberg wants to remind people to dress appropriately for the occasion, which has been a number of different temperatures and weather conditions through the years.

The event is hosted by the Evart Chamber of Commerce, the Evart Downtown Development Authority and Crossroads Community Church, along with a number of local sponsors.
