BIG RAPIDS — Students were the center of attention on Saturday during the seventh annual We Care For Kids auction.

The auction, hosted at the Holiday Inn in Big Rapids, supported education and extra-curricular activities at Trinity Lutheran School in Reed City. Money raised through a silent auction, live auction and raffles has been used toward playground equipment, classroom supplies, technology, special events, field trips, and more, according to Principal Rich Saladin. No money raised during the auction is used toward salaries or administrative expenses.

“We’re a private school,” Saladin said. “Everything we do is funded through tuition and fundraisers.”

Approximately 275 tickets were sold for the event, which Saladin noted is more than ever sold before.

After an evening bidding and dinner came to a close, Saladin said more than $55,000 had been raise for the school.

“We are just absolutely thrilled with this event,” he said. “We are thankful for all the support and we are looking forward to doing this again in 2019.”
