Volunteers needed in Evart for various LDFA projects

EVART — Do you have extra time to help out the Evart community?

Volunteers of all ages are needed to assist with a variety of projects in conjunction with the Local Development Finance Authority.

“In these hard economic times, we need more citizens to volunteer their services,” said LDFA director Melora Theunick.

Volunteers are needed for the adopt-a-park program to complete maintenance, planting, cleanup and upkeep of the park. The program was alive in Evart a few years ago, but died off due to lack of volunteers.

“We just need groups of people or individuals to take ownership and interest in their community,” Theunick said.

Volunteers are also needed to form an adopt-a-trail group to maintain trails by sweeping, picking up trash and making the area look clean, and for a friends of the airport group to help with organizing fly-in events and maintaining the grounds of the airport.

The projects would be ideal for 4-H groups or youth groups looking for an opportunity to help their community.

Time commitments for volunteer opportunities would be contingent on the project; volunteers can choose to help with as much as they want. Opportunities could count towards required community service hours for scholarships or organizations.
