VFW ladies honored on 75th anniversary
REED CITY — Several members proudly display an award received recently by Reed City VFW Ladies Auxiliary #2964 honoring the organization on its 75th.
The Auxiliary formed in 1936, and has continued to be active and important throughout the years in a variety of service-oriented activities.
The award reads:
“Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America
75th Anniversary Award
Congratulations! Seventy-five years of service to America have established your Auxiliary among the truly elite of our organization; as one of the first auxiliaries with one of the longest consecutive years of service.
Your members have led the way for others throughout this country.
Thanks to your effort, the traditions which we now hold dear become possible. The organization thanks you for your devoted service and encourages you to carry on the principles and ideals of the ladies auxiliary to the veterans of foreign wars.”
It is signed by the national president and secretary.
According to the members available for the picture, it is a great honor to be recognized for the many years of service, and they hope to continue to uphold the traditions established over the years.
They sponsored the local Boy Scouts of America locally for many years, and continue to reach out to the community in various ways.
Plans are said to be underway locally to honor the organization in the near future.
