REED CITY -- Trinity Lutheran Church and school will host a veterans chapel on Friday, Nov. 8.

"This is a special event we do every year, allowing our students and staff to honor and celebrate our veterans," hospitality board chair Lori Pruitt said.

Chapel service will begin at 8:20 a.m. and will be led by Pastor John Bookshaw, a veteran and retired pastor from St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Big Rapids.

Following the service, veterans are invited to fellowship over coffee and light refreshments, said Trinity Principal Richard Saladin.

"This is our third year hosting a special chapel service honoring our veterans. We are very appreciative of their service to our country and protecting our freedoms," Saladin said. "Many of our students have relatives who have served. The students are very proud of them and it's an opportunity for all of us to show our respect and appreciation."

All local veterans are invited to attend and worship in chapel, he added.
