REED CITY — Trinity Lutheran School in Reed City is planning an auction fundraiser for Saturday, March 3, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Big Rapids.

The auction is being used to help with tuition assistance as well as the school’s general fund. Co-organizers Becky Garvon and Ronda Wallace have been working hard to attain great items to be put up to bid – as well as promoting a fun and entertaining evening for community adults.

“We came up with this idea after attending a benefit auction for a Lutheran school down in the Grand Rapids area,” said Garvon.

“Many parents in our community may think that attending a private school with tuition is unattainable. We want to raise funds for tuition assistance so that children and families in our community can receive some financial help if needed.

“We have a great staff of loving and kind teachers, a very supportive church family, and we want families to know that our school is an option for all children.”

Principal Sherry Prange is in her second year at Trinity Lutheran.

She moved here from the state of Illinois and is very familiar with auctions supporting schools.

“We hosted multiple auctions over the years at my previous position,” said Prange. “Not only parents and church members, but all community members of the area came out to support Christian education.

“Here at Trinity Lutheran in Reed City, we maintain a curriculum that focuses on strong academics and high moral character that prepares students for high school and beyond.”

Organizers have attained an impressive list of auction items including a Grand Traverse Hot Air Balloon Ride, Tall Ship Sail Ride in Traverse City, and various handmade items including quilts, shelves, and paintings from local artists. Sports lovers will have multiples items to win including tickets for Michigan State football, University of Michigan basketball, and all four Detroit professional teams (Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers). There is also a signed jersey from World Champion St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Chris Carpenter.

Also available is a week-long vacation at a beautiful mountain chalet home near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, anytime through August, 2013. Many more items will be part of the main auction and others will be up for bid as part of a silent auction prior to dinner.

The cost of tickets is $25 per person and includes a buffet dinner consisting of beef, chicken, and vegetable main dishes.

“The cost of the ticket covers our food and on-site expenses,” said Wallace. “If there is any overage from ticket sales, those will also be applied to our fundraising account. It’s open to everyone in the area. Come out and have a great time and maybe find a great deal on some fun and unique items!”

The silent auction will start at 5 p.m. with dinner being served at 6 p.m.

The live auction will commence at 7:30 p.m. and continue until all items have been sold.

Trinity Lutheran Church and School is a non-profit 501(3)c organization. The school is located at 139 W. Church Street in Reed City and is open for enrollment for all children from 3-year-old pre-schoolers through the eighth grade.
