REED CITY — Partnering with Options Pregnancy Center in Big Rapids, Trinity Lutheran Church and School hosted a baby shower on Sunday, Feb. 12.

The baby shower serves as a creative way to collect donations needed by the organization, said Lori Pruitt, hospitality board chair at Trinity Lutheran Church and School.

Over the last couple of weeks, congregation members donated a variety of items — wash clothes, pacifiers, diapers, etc. — to help the cause.

Twenty four attendees arrived for Sunday's baby shower with donations and to play a variety of games. They also heard from LuAnn Graff, of Life Resources of Northern Michigan, who shared information about the services offered by Options Pregnancy Resource Center, said Cara Keup, who along with Julie Boprie, organized the event.

Games included guess the number of buttons in the "Cute as a Button" jar, "The Price is Right" where attendees had to guess the cost of a selection of baby items, along with Mommy and Baby matching animals  game for the kids, Keup said. They also had the opportunity to fill out a note of encouragement to those in need of a smile.

The shower was made possible with the use of a Thrivent Financial Action Team Card (Grant). The items in the game and those used for decorations were all donated to the  center.

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League at Trinity also has supported the center in the past by donating handmade quilts for distribution to clients and families, Pruitt said.
