Tire and electronics recycling this weekend in Reed City

Drop off is free, but donations appreciated

REED CITY — The Osceola-Lake Conservation District will host a tire and electronics collection from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug.7, at Recycle of Osceola County, 531 E. Lincoln Ave., Reed City.

"This is a great opportunity for community members to recycle these items," said Osceola-Lake Conservation district manager Mark Sweppenheiser. "The collection is free, but we take donations. This has been a great service because there just aren't other options to recycle these items for free."

Tire recycling rules:

• passenger tires on or off rim — no charge

• semi tire — $15 each

• limit ten tires

• no tires over 12" wide

• no tires over four feet tall

• tires must be free of debris

Electronic recycling rules:

• office and household electronics — no charge — includes TVs, computers, monitors, keyboards, microwaves, phones, stereos, game systems, printers, etc.

• no units containing Freon

• no large appliances - refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.
