Teenager suspected in Hersey burglary

HERSEY — A 16-year-old from the Hersey area was apprehended and is awaiting probate court proceedings for his alleged role in stealing from a Hersey business.

On Monday, a trooper from the Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post, Reed City Detachment, was dispatched to investigate a burglary at a Hersey business. When the owners arrived at their business that morning, they discovered money missing. After checking the business' security cameras, they found a suspect had been inside during the night and took the money.

Police investigation led to the apprehension of the 16-year-old suspect. A small amount of the stolen money was recovered, along with other evidence from the burglary.

The boy is lodged at a youth detention facility while he awaits probate court proceedings.
