Teen talent show seeking participants

REED CITY — August is approaching quickly.

Sadly, it’s the last month of summer vacation. It is also a month for celebration. The Great American Crossroads Festival - A Family Celebration in Reed City is a fun filled event lasting several days. Loaded with activities for everyone in the family, however there is one event just for that teenager in your life.

The Fifth Annual Teen Talent Show is once again looking for teen contestants to impress judges with their talents.  This event is hosted by the Osceola Coalition for Underage Drinking - a local organization focusing on reducing underage drinking, drunk driving and the abuse of prescription medicines.

The show is open to teens age 13 to 19 and provides an opportunity to have fun showcasing their talents in a drug free environment.  Organizers believe it is very important to get teens involved with extracurricular activities that help to boost their self esteem, encourage creativity, and keep them from getting involved in harmful situations. Last year’s show was full of musical performances, singing and dance.

The teen talent show will be on Friday August 17 at 7 p.m. in the Reed City High School cafeteria. Judging for the event is carried out by panel of community members.

First place prize is $100, second place is $75 and third place is $50.

Registration forms are available at the Reed City Depot or through Kim Livingston at  231-527-2000.

Forms need to be returned complete with parent signature to Livingston at the Ten Sixteen Recovery Network ( address is included on the form)  by Aug. 10.
