Streets packed with people, floats, Santa for parade

REED CITY — The weather was perfect for Saturday’s big Evergreen Festival and hundreds of people turned out to enjoy it. Undoubtedly, it was the largest crowd in years, and the streets were flooded with people long before the parade even began.

Dozens of floats, the high school band, Reed City and Hersey fire trucks, candy passer-outers, and even reindeer joined Santa and Mrs. Claus in the journey through the downtown area, then on over to the Depot where they sat outside and greeted the long lines that followed them.

In fact, the followers joined right in with the end of the parade and as a result, police held up traffic on Chestnut to allow the crowd to safely cross as a huge group as well.

There was lots of music, and lots of fun as the event moved from one location to the next, coming right through town from up near the library and right on to the Depot.
