State leaders, workforce experts honor Ventra Evart

EVART — West Michigan economic development and employment successes were among those celebrated by state leaders at the Michigan Works! Impact Awards on April 27.

Lt. Gov. Brian Calley joined local lawmakers and statewide talent development officials in recognizing Ventra Evart LLC and Michigan Works! West Central.

As the largest employer in Osceola County, Ventra Evart has used Michigan Works! services on numerous occasions. Most recently, Michigan Works! supported Ventra Evart in securing two Skilled Trades Training Fund awards and in making critical connections with Ferris State University.

In addition, Michigan Works! assisted with a fast-paced hiring event, during which more than 170 applicants came through the door during a four-hour time span.

“Ventra Evart is making a huge impact for families here in West Michigan,” said State Senator Darwin Booher (R-Evart). “Their partnership with Michigan Works! is producing the kind of results economic development experts everywhere should be emulating.”

The Impact Awards are an opportunity for state leaders to recognize the economic development success being achieved in communities across Michigan. Dozens of honorees from across the state received awards presented by their local lawmakers and state workforce development officials.

“Ventra Evart is a real regional success story,” said State Representative Joel Johnson (R-Clare). “When organizations like Michigan Works! focus on the needs of employers, communities like ours are big winners.”

Amy Andrus, human resources manager, and Chad Leiter, plant manager, received the company’s Impact Award in Lansing.

“Ventra is very honored to be a recipient of the Michigan Works! Impact Award. Ventra values and appreciates the commitment Michigan Works! Central has made toward the successful employment of the Ventra team,” said Andrus.

“Receiving the Skilled Trades Training Fund dollars has provided additional opportunity within Ventra, and increased our internal knowledge and competitive edge. The funding provided the avenue to successfully implement Ventra’s Skilled Trades Training Program,” added Andrus.
