REED CITY — Brandon Starkey recently earned the title of Journeyman Mold maker after completing the four-year Mold Maker Apprenticeship program, Reed City Tool owner Rod Weck announced this week.

A 2012 graduate of Pine River High School, Starkey began working for Reed City Tool a month after graduating, first thinking of working in the production area before attending college. Starkey then qualified for enrollment in the apprenticeship training program offered by Reed City Tool, deciding to learn a trade and start his career. Starkey worked side-by-side with Journeyman Mold makers and was able to learn from them.

Starkey recently moved to the Reed City area to be closer to work. He is expecting the birth of his first daughter in October. In his spare time, Starkey likes to hunt, fish and spend time with his family.
