Spectrum welcomes all to annual block party

BIG RAPIDS — The chance to dine and celebrate the sense of community can be found at this year's annual Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital Auxiliary Community Block Party.

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at Centennial Park in Big Rapids, just east of Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital.

Dinner, ice cream and pie will be available for purchase, and attendees can bring their lawn chairs and sit while enjoying live music by the Ferris State University Community Summer Band. Actors from STAGE M will perform a selection from its summer musical program of Willy Wonka.

"This is a great event because it's a reminder to the community that we're here as neighbors," said Tom Hogenson, Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital director of community relations. "It's a down-home, warm-hearted event and it's low key in the right way."

Proceeds from the event benefit the Health Careers Scholarship Fund. Students receiving the scholarship this year will be announced and presented during the block party.
