Spectrum offering diabetes classes
REED CITY — Whether you are newly diagnosed or have had diabetes for some time, we can help you improve your health and your life. Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital is offering state certified diabetes education classes during the month of April with Lori King, BSN, RN, CDE and Kim Lombard, MS, RD, CDE (registered dietician).
Each session consists of three weekly classes. Content covered during the three-hour sessions include:
• Acute and long-term complications
• Glucose monitoring
• Goal setting
• Meal planning
• Medication management and review
• Psychosocial adjustment
• Stress and coping
Many people who have participated in the program have reported that they feel better and have lost weight. Others have said their diagnosis has been a wakeup call to improve their health. Because class participants are encouraged to make lifestyle changes, they often have lasting success in managing their diabetes.
If you or someone you know has diabetes, it is very important to have information to properly manage the disease.
Diabetes support and education programs at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital provide the latest information and give a practical approach that puts you in charge of your health.
