Spectrum holds tribute service

REED CITY — It was a quiet group, but an appreciative one that gathered together Thursday, Dec. 1, to share their lives after the loss of a loved one.

The fourth annual Tribute of Light, Light the Way, was held in the lobby of Reed City Family Practice.

It included music by Willow Skye Robinson, as well as by the Crossroads Harmony Chorus, consisting of Terrie Larson, Lynn Williams, Deanne Snider and Marcia Wallin.

Irene Balowski, director of Cancer Services, shared how it was she became so involved in oncology to begin with, and so grateful for her position locally. She focused on the integrative therapy program, and the importance of seeing people as people rather than as patients, and looking beyond the diagnosis to the person.

The name reading ceremony was shared by two Spectrum/Reed City Hospital board of trustees members, Dave Langworthy and Connie Theunick-Perley.

Katelyn Johnson sang during the candle-lighting ceremony, “Light a Candle.” As in past years, the candle-lighting was a solemn time as the “light” passed person to person and candle to candle, sharing the moment and the memories.

The tree in the lobby was lit during the program and it will remain so until New Year’s Day.

Linda Rubin, COO, also addressed the group, as did Sam Daugherty, president.

Anyone wishing to make a gift to the Tribute of Light may do so until Jan. 1, either by calling (231) 832-6659, or by logging on to www.spectrumhealthfoundation.org/tributeoflight.
