Spectrum Health welcomes new general surgeon


Mark Haan, MD, a board-certified surgeon, joins Big Rapids and Reed City hospitals

REED CITY — Patients who need specific surgical care at Spectrum Health Big Rapids and Reed City hospitals have a new surgeon to meet. Mark Haan, MD, a board-certified  surgeon, has joined the area's surgical team.

Dr. Haan completed his medical education at Wayne State University in Detroit, and his surgical residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He comes to the practice with more than 20 years of experience and will be performing surgical procedures at both Big Rapids and Reed City hospitals.

Joining Lisa Price, DO, Dr. Haan will offer outpatient and inpatient surgery for a wide range of medical conditions. Both board-certified surgeons are trained in the latest techniques and technology and perform procedures from common to complex including:

  • Advanced laparoscopy (laparoscopic colectomy, hernia repair and anti-reflux surgery)
  • Appendectomy
  • Biopsy (i.e. abdominal, breast, liver)
  • Colonoscopy
  • Gall bladder (cholecystectomy)
  • Hernia (abdominal)
  • Intestinal resection (i.e. diverticulitis, cancer removal, obstruction)
  • Rectal (cancer removal)
  • Spleen removal (splenectomy)
  • Stomach (i.e. ulcer, cancer removal)
