Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital offering free flu vaccines on Jan. 16
REED CITY - Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital wants to ensure that cost and access are not barriers to getting a seasonal flu vaccine this year and are therefore giving away seasonal flu vaccine at their family practice locations in Reed City, Evart and Tustin and the Occupational Health Services location in Reed City.
“We are attempting to reach those people who up to this point have not been able to afford it,” states chief financial officer, Tom Knoerl. “Removing the financial barriers and focusing on preventative measures will go a long way in protecting our community members.”
Your best defense against the flu is to get immunized. A flu vaccination is most important for children 6 to 59 months; adults ages 50 and older; anyone with a chronic disease; anyone who lives in a nursing home or other long-term care site, people who are in frequent contact with elderly adults or the chronically ill.
The vaccine is available for anyone over the age of 6 months old and will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
