Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital awards two academic scholarships

REED CITY — In keeping with their annual tradition of awarding two $1,000 college scholarships to students pursuing a career in healthcare, Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital is proud to announce this year’s winners, Brooke Pennington and Rachel Rounds.

Scholarship applicants must show a clear directive as to their interest in the health sciences, proven academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher and provide a comprehensive overview of their high school careers including academics, varied extra-curricular activities, community involvement and demonstrated work habits.

Brooke Pennington will graduate from Pine River High School with a GPA of 3.88. She plans to pursue a degree in pharmacy at either Southwest Minnesota State University or Ferris State University with the goal of becoming a pharmacist.

Rachel Rounds will graduate from Evart High School with a GPA of 3.991. She plans to pursue degrees in psychology and linguistics at Cornerstone University with the goal of teaching English and counseling women in Africa.
