REED CITY — Registration is now open for the 12th Annual Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital 5K and Walk on Saturday, Aug. 20.

The annual event is part of the Great American Crossroads Celebration and takes runners and walkers through the parks and streets of Reed City, with the finish line located behind the hospital. This year, children up to age 10 can participate in a free kids dash, which will be a short sprint up the driveway behind Reed City Hospital. All dashers will receive a festive prize.

“We’re looking forward to hosting another great 5K during the Crossroads Festival,” said Travis Kroll, event coordinator for Spectrum Health Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals. “We’re adding the kids dash this year to give the smallest runners a way to participate. This year, it really is a healthy event for the whole family.”

T-shirts are guaranteed for all 5K race and walk participants who sign up before July 29. Trophies and medals will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place male and female finishers in the following categories: ages 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-plus years.

To save valuable time on race day, registered runners can pick up their race packets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 in the lobby of Reed City Family Practice.
