EVART — The Chalk Art Festival and Sidewalk Sales in downtown Evart are returning to bring the community together for prizes, games and shopping.

From 9 a.m. to noon on June 29, residents are invited to decorate the downtown sidewalks on 7th Street and North Main Street with chalk art and also enjoy sales at local businesses.

Al Weinberg, downtown development authority director said this is the second year Evart has had this event.

“Although the actual day was rained out last year, we had the event the next day and 150 to 200 people attended,” Weinberg said. “It’s part of our Main Street Mixer events, which are different events to get people downtown to our business district.”

Weinberg said there are great shops downtown and anybody who likes to get a deal should stop by.

Citizens from all over the area can get to enjoy time together and get to know each other, so they feel more at home in the area, he said.

Weinberg encourages people of all ages to get creative.

“It’s really fun to be authorized to leave your mark on a sidewalk,” Weinberg said. “We had people from 4 years old to 64 last year. Some drew things that were very cute and others were simply pieces of art. It’s a really fun thing to do.”
