Shoe Sensation partners with local nonprofit
BIG RAPIDS – Local residents with shoe addictions can now put that obsession toward a good cause. The Big Rapids location of Shoe Sensation, Inc. is hosting an in-store campaign, with proceeds benefiting a local charity.
“We’re excited and want to make this project a success,” said Jim Quiggins, advertising director for Shoe Sensation, Inc. “Hopefully we can expand it in the future.”
Retail company Shoe Sensation has partnered with Mecosta Osceola Great Start Collaborative to help local children in need by accepting donations on their behalf. From Tuesday, July 8 through Monday, July 14, patrons of the retail chain can choose to make a donation of $1 or more toward the charity. In return, they will receive 10 percent off their purchase of a single item at Shoe Sensations.
“We queried local store teams and asked the managers to find local charities focused on children, particularly with putting shoes on children’s feet,” Quiggins said. “This is a pilot program based off a desire for Shoe Sensations to be a part of each community on a local level.”
Shoe Sensation is implementing this program in 17 of its current 94 locations, which are scattered across 13 states in the Midwest and South.
“I personally believe that although we are a chain, our main goal is to be a good, corporate citizen,” Quiggins said. “We have an involved interest in communities like Big Rapids. Children are born into situations and it’s not as though they made a bad decision or mistake to put themselves there. We can see the difference it makes when kids know someone cares about them. It means a lot to them and me to help.”
