Sheriff’s department warns of Facebook stalker

OSCEOLA COUNTY — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a man who is sending lewd pictures to local teenage girls on their cell phones.

Deputies began taking complaints earlier this week from parents whose daughters, ranging in age from 13 to 16, had received the obscene photos from the 26-year-old man who initially was believed to be living out-of-state.

Undersheriff Justin Halladay said the man has “friended” girls on Facebook, where he found their cell phone numbers listed in their profiles. In some cases, the man also has sent pictures attached to Facebook messages.

Deputies are hoping to arrest the man and press charges against him, but are advising any area teens who have received these messages to speak up.

“There could be quite a few (girls who have been contacted),” Halladay said.

As the investigation continues, Halladay said parents need to be aware of the case and report anything suspicious to the sheriff’s office.

“There’s a reason to believe he’s now moved into the state, and this is just what he does,” he said. “We’ve gotten some real good information on who he is, but we’re waiting for some more information. ... Since the investigation has started, his behavior has become more aggressive. We want people to know about it in case he decided to come up here and grab someone.”

Anyone who believes they have been contacted by this man or received explicit photos online or on their cell phone should immediately contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (231) 832-2288.
