Seniors say thanks to Trinity School kids

REED CITY — Every month students from Reed City’s Trinity School visit the elders at the Rehab and Nursing Center at Spectrum Health. They spend time reading and singing, generally giving the residents a little extra caring attention.

The host residents love it so much, that they are always asking when the students are coming back.

In return, the residents wanted to do something special for these students.

On Valentine’s Day, they sent Ellen Finkbeiner — The Singing Valentine — to the school.

Each class got a Valentine song and some treats. Most of all they got some special words of how they are very much appreciated for their visits.

“They just want you to know how much they love you all and how much they appreciate that you care about them,” Ellen told a class of third graders.

Each child’s face beamed with pride and they received these thank you’s.

The Singing Valentine’s mission did not end there. Ellen ventured all through town singing valentines purchased for kids, friends and special sweethearts.

All the proceeds from the purchases will benefit the Elders at the Rehab and Nursing Center at Spectrum Health.

One special lady brought joy to many people that day, and for a wonderful cause.
