Scouts repair vandalized memorial

REED CITY -- BSA Cub Scout Pack 174 did clean up along the Purple Heart Trail in Reed City and repaired the vandalized Scout memorial on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Scout leader Russ Nehmer said the memorial was a former Eagle Scout project done several years ago to honor Cub Scouting. Last Fall, it was vandalized and the Bronze Fleur de Li stolen from the cement foundation. It was later found in the river damaged.

Bentek Inc., in Reed City, repaired the damage.

Nehmer said they had planned to do the project in April, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic were unable to bring the Scouts together at that time.

"We are thankful for the parents, local businesses and Scout supporters for the help and donations to make this possible," Nehmer said.
