Scouts hold annual Pinewood Derby races in Reed City
Competition was fast and furious during the annual Pinewood Derby held at the Scout House in Reed City throughout much of Saturday.
Competition got underway at 11 a.m. and included not only racing on a track with exact timing and placement capabilities but also competition in design as well.
Taking first place in the Tigers Division of the Reed City Pack 174’s event was Hunter White.
Ashton Ferguson was second and Ethan Duchenne placed third.
First place was won by Chad Landis, and Ben Harris and Tristan McConnel took second and third respectively.
Spencer Williams ripped down the track to place first in the Bears competition, with Josh Adams in second and KC Burke third.
Connar Williams set the pace for the Webelos and took the top spot, followed by Sam Venema in second and Austin Cilwa, third.
In the adults/siblings event, it was Undersheriff Justin Halladay in first, followed by Sara Burke in second, and Anna Maria in third.
Hunter White took first in the Best of Show category for the Tigers, with Chad Landis doing likewise in the Wolves division, Jagger Boyer had Best of Show for the Bears, Troy Todd of Webelos II had Best of Show in that division, and Monica Harris for the adults and siblings competition.
Three leaders had birthdays and were honored with a cake and singing.
The Blue and Gold Banquet it planned for Feb. 12. At that time Dave Williams become the new Cubmaster. There will be a potluck at 2 p.m., followed by the transition ceremony shortly thereafter.
