Scouts donate to Project Starburst

REED CITY — Reed City Boy Scout Troop 174 collected canned goods and other nonperishable food items to be donated to Project Starburst over the Christmas holiday.

“Unfortunately, with COVID-19, our numbers were down from last year,” Cubmaster Russ Nehmer said. “Tubelite and Yoplait did not participate due to COVID-19, but the food pantry was pleased with the boost in food sources, which met our goal of helping the community.”

Project Starburst, which turns 50 next year, feeds Osceola and Mecosta County families and individuals in need.

A total of 2,546 families were served this past year.
