Roth Street bridge closed to traffic

Maintenance, repairs and resurfacing being done

REED CITY — The bridge over the Hersey River on Roth Street will be closed from Oct. 5 to Oct. 23 for required maintenance, repairs and resurfacing.

The bridge, built in 1979, is inspected every year in accordance with Michigan Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration using National Bridge Inspection Standards. It was determined that in order to extend the use of the bridge at its current load ratings certain repairs must be made.

At the August 17th Council Meeting, Grand River Construction of Hudsonville, MI was awarded the project for $179,949.00.

Grand River Construction will be doing joint replacement, putting a waterproofing membrane down after joint replacement and repaving the bridge. They also will be doing some work under the bridge to help with erosion.
