Relay For Life begins on Friday

The annual Relay For Life promises to nudge some to laughter and still others to tears as the event moves from one activity to another for 24 solid hours, beginning Friday at noon at the Osceola County Fairgrounds in Evart.

The event undoubtedly will raise thousands of dollars again this year in the on-going battle to fight a foe named cancer and find a cure that will save so many lives.

The Relay For Life will begin at noon on Friday, with the ringing of the victory bell at the east end of the grandstand near the high school track where walkers, young and old, cancer-free or just-found-outs will gather to raise not only money, but also hope for future generations.

Or even themselves.

If not today, perhaps some day.

Unless, or until, a cure is found or treatment holds the horrible cancer at bay long enough until one is finally discovered.

Some of those walking will be survivors themselves. Others may be there in memory of someone else. But all will be there for that one common purpose. For some in spite of. For others because of. For all because care.

Following the ringing of the victory bell at noon, there will be a variety of special themes throughout the following 24 hours.
