Reed City students have adventure at Spring Hill
EVART — From learning how to use a compass, to canoeing in the Muskegon River, G.T. Norman Elementary fourth graders had an outdoor experience on Friday when they visited Spring Hill camps in Evart.
“This is our first trip to Spring Hill and it has been so fun,” said fourth grade teacher Denise Nelson.
After learning how to use a compass, students had the opportunity to go orienteering. Groups of students were led to various targets using their compass.
“This is kind of fun,” said fourth grader Hannah Diehl, as she and her partner Maiya Willard successfully located their second target.
Each student had the chance to canoe in the river and play gaga ball, a game with a kickball in an enclosed wooden arena. Along with outdoor fun, students also could climb on the indoor rock wall.
Nelson said the teachers would look into writing a grant for G.T.Norman to have their own gaga ball arena.
