Reed City sophomore plans to improve her sprint starts
REED CITY — Marie Kinsey ran the sprints and distances for the Reed City girls track team last year and is anticipating focusing on sprints this year.
Kinsey’s best event will be the 200, she anticipates. Her best time last year in the 200 was 56 seconds and she’s hoping to get into the 40s this year. The key, she indicated, will be a better start.
Kinsey anticipated that the 400 will be her second best event. She’s looking to do it in a minute and 10 seconds this year.
Kinsey ran cross country in the fall and will keep running in the winter.
She anticipates in the Central State Association that Newaygo should have good sprinters.
Liz Jobes will be in the throws this season. She said. Reed City senior Sami Michell encouraged her to come out for track and field. She’s hoping to get outside as soon possible, weather permitting, and work on her throwing.
Jobes will be among other Coyote throwers hoping to score points in the discus and shot put.
“I’m hoping to throw better in the discus but it’s hard to say right now,” she said.
