Reed City remembers lost soldiers

Gathering along the streets of Reed City, families and individuals united for a parade and ceremony on Monday to honor those lost in service to the nation.

The parade of more than 30 cars and walking groups including Reed City church of the Nazarene, Head to Toe Salon, local veterans and Boy Scout Troop No. 74 began at the Reed City Depot and made its way down Upton Avenue before turning at Park Street and then Lincoln Avenue, where a ceremony was held at Woodland Cemetery.

The Reed City High School marching band played a medley of patriotic tunes under the direction of band director John Szczerowski.

After a prayer led by Pastor Dawn Pooley honoring the families of soldiers lost in service,  veterans shot a traditional 21-gun salute.

Roses donated by Patterson’s flowers were distributed to be placed on gravestones of the fallen.
