REED CITY - A great way to be involved with the annual Crossroads Festival is to once again host the Reed City Pageant and pick the city’sroyalty for the upcoming year.

This event has been put on by the General Federation of Women’s Club for the last four years.

Reed City has many talented youngsters who are beautiful inside and out. The pageant gives them an opportunity to showcase who they are and what they love. It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of an audience, especially for the younger participants.

It’s a fun filled night for the whole family.

The pageant has four categories; Queen for ages 14-19, Jr Queen for ages nine-13, Princess for ages eight and under, and Prince for ages ten and under. Participants will be judged based on their interview with a panel of community members, a casual outfit, a talent and a formal wear.

The important thing is to have fun.

The pageant will be held Wednesday, Aug 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Norman Elementary gym. Practice will be at 5:30 p.m. Winners receive a crown, a sash and a prize bag.

Participants are also asked to ride in the Crossroads Festival parade at 6 p.m. on Friday evening.

Applications are available at city hall, the library and the Reed City Depot or you may call Shelly Scharlow at 832-3178. The application needs to be filed, along with a recent photo, a couple of paragraphs about the child, an introduction and a fee of $15, by August 8.
