Reed City homecoming queen to participate in state competition

REED CITY – Katie Nicklas, 18, will represent Reed City High School in Michigan’s 34th annual Homecoming Queen Selection, which will be held on April 27, at the Radisson Hotel in Lansing.

Nicklas was voted by her peers as Reed City Homecoming Queen in October, a title she was not expecting.

“I’m honored that they chose me,” Nicklas said.

At the Michigan Homecoming Queen Selection, Nicklas will be interviewed by a group of judges and participate in an evening gown competition.

Nicklas, who is involved with 4-H in Osceola County, will show in the Crossroads Beef Show the day before the selection. Although she is not afraid of a little hard work, she said she is looking forward to wearing her prom dress in the evening gown category.

“I’ve never really done anything big like this before,” she said, noting that she has competed in several pageants in Reed City and Hersey.

Michigan’s 2014 Homecoming Queen will receive a cash scholarship and an all expense paid trip to the national finals to compete for the title of America’s Homecoming Queen.

Nicklas also is competing for Michigan’s Favorite Homecoming Queen. To cast a vote for Nicklas, visit
