Reed City employee arrested in time card fraud charges

REED CITY — A Reed City Waste Water Treatment plant employee was arrested Monday for falsifying time cards.

The woman, whose name has not been released pending her formal arraignment on Feb. 28, was one of four employees at the plant — one supervisor and three operators.

Reed City Manager Ron Marek said the arrested individual has lost her job.

“We have a part-time person covering that shift at this point,” said Marek.

Prosecutor James Sims has filed charges and the woman has posted bond.

The city is seeking ways to improve the time reporting and approval process at the plant in the future, Marek said.

Michigan State Police are investigating the case. Sgt. Josh Lator said the department cannot release any additional details of the investigation at this time.
