REED CITY — Celebration took over Reed City on Friday as homecoming festivities captured school spirit during the annual parade and football game.

Reed City Area Schools supporters lined up by the hundreds to cheer on members of the school district and collect candy thrown by participants as floats and individuals paraded through the city streets. The high school marching band performed, sports teams dressed in their uniforms, class floats showed off creative themes and local organizations waved to onlookers.

This was the first year for the new parade route, which traveled east on Church Street, north on Chestnut Street, west on Upton and south on Higbee Street. Reed City Police Chief Chuck Davis said the route worked perfectly thanks to the hard work of the police department, Osceola County Sheriff's Department, the city of Reed City and the Osceola County Emergency Management Community Emergency Response Team.

During the football game, Reed City triumphed over the Grant Tigers with a 28-11 win, and halftime gave way to the crowning of Abe Angious and Ashley Andres as the 2014 homecoming king and queen.
