Reed City accepts dump truck bids

REED CITY — The Reed City Department of Public Works will acquire a new dump truck for its use, following the bid approval of the Reed City Council at its meeting on Dec. 21.

Council members accepted a $114,000 bid from GT Diesel Service for the truck and a $79,000 bid from Truck and Trailer Specialist for the truck's equipment.

City council members also approved a motion to accept financing quotes for the dump trucks from Lake Osceola State Bank of a 10-year loan with an annual payment of $193,800.

In other business, the city council:

  • approved a motion to hire Rich Rehkopf as the new DPW supervisor;
  • approved a motion to accept a grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for a snowmobile unit for the Reed City Police Department;
  • approved a motion to approve an early, no-penalty run-water advisory before the city-wide ordinance for problematic properties which typically see issues with freezing pipes;
  • approved a motion to allow the Reed City Fire chief to apply for grants.

The next Reed City Council meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
