REED CITY — Members of the Reed City Rotary Club are starting a new annual event that closes out the summer on the green.

The first Rotary Golf Outing will take place with an 8 a.m. registration and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at Spring Valley Golf Course, located on U.S. 10.

"We're looking for more fundraising opportunities and wanted to get a few more members," said Rotary member and event organizer Ron Marek. "We also want the community members to have some fun and we thought a golf outing is a good way to do that."

The cost to play is $50 per golfer or $200 per team, which includes the round of golf, a cart, lunch at The Turn and a steak dinner. Raffles and prizes will be given throughout the outing.

"I'm looking forward to a good turnout and a fun time golfing," Marek said. "I'm hoping for good weather."

The Reed City Rotary is made up of area individuals of the professional world who help host community events and activities. Through fundraising efforts, the group contributes to local charities, offers a scholarship, is starting a literacy program and more.

New members always are welcome, Marek said.

"We're looking for people who are interested in making the community a better place to live, work and play," he added.

For more information or to pre-register for the event by Wednesday, Sept. 10, contact Ron Marek at (231) 388-4082.
