Reed City Library to hold events in September

REED CITY — The Reed City Public Library will hold the following events in the month of September:

The library will be closed on Sept. 3 for Labor Day;

1:30 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 5, - Day Book Club. Members will read “No. 1 Ladies’ Detectives Agency” by Alexander McCall Smith;

noon on Sat., Sept. 8, - Family Movie Matinee. Families are welcome to watch the movie “Tangled.” Popcorn will be provided;

11:15 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 12, 19, and 26 - Story Hour. Families can bring their toddlers and join Mrs. D. for games, crafts, songs and more;

3 to 4:30 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 10 - Scrabble Hour. Join fellow word enthusiests for an afternoon of gaming fun.

5:30 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 13 - Teen Advisory Board. Teens and preteens are invited to give input into library services, make displays and decorate the library. Snacks will be provided.

6 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 20 - Evening Book Club. Members will read “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern;

6 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 24 - Board Meeting. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend;

6 to 8 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 11 - Patriot’s Day book talk and signing with Benjamin Busch at the Reed City Depot, located at 200 N. Chestnut Street. Join Ben for a book discussion of his memoir “Dust to Dust,” which recalls his experiences as a youth, combat marine in Iraq and more. Individuals over 18 are invited to attend. This local author is getting a lot of buzz for this work and favorable reviews from the likes of “Publisher’s Weekly” and the “New York Times.” Books will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Great Lakes Books of Big Rapids.

Reed City Public Library is located at 410 Upton Ave. in Reed City. The library is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday; 11 am. to 5 p.m. Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
