REED CITY — The Reed City Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its first Career Fair at the Reed City Depot.

It is currently scheduled to take place Nov. 4, with the retail and other careers portion of the fair happening between 8 and 11:30 a.m.

Those who are interested in applying for various manufacturing and trade jobs, that section of the fair runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

All job-seekers will have the opportunity to win up to $200 in Reed City Ca$h to be used at participating Reed City businesses.

Reed City Chamber Coordinator Alanna McBee said the idea of hosting a job fair was a frequent topic of discussion in recent chamber board meetings.

“We’re trying to get some events together that would be great for the community,” McBee said.

McBee also said the COVID-19 pandemic and its continued effects on the local area was another rather large motivator for putting on the fair.

“A lot of people have lost jobs (and) a lot of employers have lost employees, so that was kind of our reasoning behind planning the career fair,” McBee said. “We just thought it would be a great way to give back to our community.”
