REED CITY — Several events are scheduled at the Reed City Area District Library throughout the month of February to help area residents get through the final weeks of the winter doldrums.

Word enthusiasts — young and old — are encouraged to attend Scrabble Hour from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6.

Stories, songs, crafts and other activities are planned for February's two story hours, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, and Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The library is hosting an adult coloring group from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9. Supplies and coloring pages are limited. Refreshments will be provided.

The entire family is invited to attend the showing of "Kubo and the Two Strings" during family movie afternoon at noon on Saturday, Feb. 11. The movie is about a young boy named Kubo who begins a journey. Popcorn will be provided.

On Valentine's Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14, "Maximum Ride" will be shown for Teen Movie Night. Popcorn will be available during the movie which is about six teenagers who are able to break out of their lab.

The Evening Book Club is set to meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. The group will discuss "An Irish Country Doctor" by Patrick Taylor.

The library is hosting a free family history research workshop, presented by the Osceola County Genealogy Society, from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, in the community room. People seeking assistance in researching their family's history are encouraged to bring their own laptop or device to search free internet websites.

The monthly meeting of the library board is set for 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27. The public is encouraged to attend.

The library, located at 829 S. Chestnut St., is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
