REED CITY — Students at G.T. Norman Elementary School received a treat on Wednesday as members from the Reed City High School Dance Team performed a number of routines in the school’s gymnasium.

The girls performed group and solo routines displaying different styles of dance. The dances were choreographed by the team members, who smiled with pride as they showed off their skills.

“Basically, some of the teachers got together and thought that it would be a great assembly for kids to watch and enjoy,” said Ashley Bregg, one of the leaders of the dance team. “It’s also a way to be active, so I think they’re encouraging an active lifestyle.”

The team performed dances from last year’s basketball season and those they perfected for this year. The girls practice throughout the year in and outside of school.

“They love it because there’s no pressure,” said G’ne Holt, the dance team’s second leader. “They just go out there, they smile and they go out and they have a good time.”
