RCAPS brings staff handbook into compliance with new laws
REED CITY – The Board of Education for Reed City Area Public Schools updated its staff handbook at a meeting on Monday to comply with new state laws.
Most of the revised policies – which came from NEOLA, a company that provides template policies for school districts – dealt with procedures for teacher evaluations, layoffs and use of employee genetic information.
“Most of the policies were just changes relevant to state law,” said Superintendent Steve Westhoff.
The board also approved two overnight trips that will take place later in the school year. The senior class trip will be to Six Flags in Chicago in the spring, and the high school band will travel to Disney World in Florida during Spring Break.
The next regular board meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Dec. 19 in the board room.
