RCAPS board adds year, raise to Webster's contract

REED CITY — Members of the Reed City Area Public Schools Board of Education extended the contract of Superintendent Tim Webster by one year at their April 18 meeting.

Webster's current contract was through 2017, and a motion approved by board members added an additional year, extending his contract until June 30, 2018, and includes a 3 percent raise. A statement read by the board stated Webster's evaluation determined he was effective and noted areas of growth and improvement.

In more business, the district will say goodbye to a few staff members once the year ends. District paraprofessional Janice Miller and teachers Sue Houpt and Barb York are set to retire, while varsity boys soccer coach Cody Jacobs has resigned from his position.

In new business, the board approved a motion regarding meal prices for the 2016-17 school year, which are set by the state. There is no change to middle school or high school costs, and meals at the elementary school will increase by 25 cents.
