Quilts on display at Trinity Lutheran Church and School

REED CITY -- Hundreds of quilts were on display at the Trinity Lutheran Church and School over the weekend, Oct. 5 and 6.

The quilt display commemorated the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML).

Each year the women create the quilts, which are all handmade, and display them at the church prior to sending them out to charitable organizations worldwide.

"They drape the quilts across the pews, and it's a beautiful, cozy sight," hospitality board chair Lori Pruitt said. "This is the largest group of quilts I've seen produced in several years," she continued. "Last year they did 119, this year 210."

The quilts will be donated to a variety of global and local agencies, including Lutheran World Relief, the WISE shelter, Susan B. Wheatlake Cancer Center and Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, Pruitt said.
